Join us for MSHA’s Annual Legislative Day on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Capitol Rotunda Third Floor in Jefferson City, Missouri.  The purpose of Legislative Day is to help promote our profession to legislators by making them aware of what we do, educating them about how important our professions are and what issues are of concern.  As a member of MSHA, your input to legislation and involvement in Legislative Day is invaluable.  It is imperative that legislators become aware of what matters to us as Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists, as well as the clientele we serve!

This year, we are going to take advantage of technology that is available to us!  On Monday, February 13, please plan to join us in an online webinar format from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  We will be discussing the legislative process, how to talk to your legislator, and updates on current issues of concern.  You will be receiving .1 CEU for your participation in the webinar – Free!!!

Then on February 21, 2012, you will be able to meet with legislators face-to-face to discuss concerns and promote our professions (up to .3 CEUs available).   Here’s our schedule for Legislative Day, February 21, 2012:

Please RSVP to MSHA Central Office by Tuesday, February 6 at MSHA@showmemsha.org if you plan to attend.  RSVP is required so that you may have the necessary information needed to participate in the webinar as well as an accurate count for lunch.  MSHA will extend invitations to all legislators; however, a personal invitation from you will be more valuable.  If you are unaware of the name of your Representative or Senator, visit the State of Missouri website at http://www.senate.mo.gov/llookup/leg_lookup.aspx to find out. All you need is your zip code to obtain the information.  Please feel free to use the following sample letter to send to your legislator.

The purpose of MSHA’s Legislative Day is to meet our state legislators and provide information about the profession of speech-language pathology and audiology as well as speak about current legislation that is important to us.  Please stop by the Third Floor Rotunda and increase your awareness of the profession and the needs of persons with communication disorders.  Our services are invaluable to the people of Missouri.  Please make every effort to attend.
